Head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle has come under pressure from some quarters in the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to include some players playing in the African continent in the Super Eagles team for the Unity Cup, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Chelle said he will use the tournament to give game time to fringe players in his team , and also pick players from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). He is already in the country to watch games before deciding on the who to invite.
However a call has been made to the coach to look at players like Onuche Ogbelu of Tunisian giants Esperance among others, who have had a good season in Africa’s club tournament.
” We saw Ogbelu at the club world cup and I believe we have them like that in top African Leagues and we have made it known to Chelle to give them a chance”, a member of the technical department of the NFF revealed.
Aside Ogbelu he said three others have been proposed to Chelle for extensive scouting, but refused to tell us their names or current club.
