The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has increased the prize money for both the Champions League and Confederation Cup this season.
The winners of Africa’s elite club competition will pocket $6 million which represents a 50 per cent bump from the $4m that Pyramids received last term when they beat Mamelodi Sundowns in the final.
The cup champions are set to walk away with $4m, a doubling of the winners’ purse after RS Berkane were awarded $2m for their victory over Simba in 2024-25.
Teams who failed to qualify for the group stages of the two competitions will also see a raise in the payments they get, from $50,000 to $100,000.
The financial adjustments are intended to help with participation costs as travelling and logistics present barriers for many clubs on the continent.
Sundowns and AS FAR will battle it out for the coveted CAF Champions League trophy on May 15 and 24, while Zamalek and USM Alger clash in the CAF Confederation Cup final on May 9 and 16.
