CAF recently awarded Ghana the hosting rights for the tournament, which will coincide with the country’s 70th anniversary of independence, marking a significant moment in its sporting and national history.
Despite confirming Ghana as hosts, the continental governing body has indicated that key logistical details, including match venues and the tournament schedule, will be released at a later stage.
This will be the second time Ghana hosts the U-20 continental showpiece, having previously staged the competition in 1999, when the hosts went on to lift the trophy.
The tournament will feature 12 teams from across Africa and serves as a key development platform for young players, with the top four nations earning qualification to the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
Ghana, four-time champions of the competition, have a strong reputation in youth football and remain the only African nation to have won the FIFA U-20 World Cup, achieving that feat in 2009.
CAF is expected to provide further updates on the tournament’s organisation, including venues and dates, in the coming months.
